Wow I love this one, it is called the Machado Quilt, don't ask me why??? I love the wonkyness of it all. If I was to do a large center applique like this it would never end up totally circular. This is definately one of my favorites!
This quilt is the subject of a poster I saw in Old Town San Diego this weekend. I knew it looked familiar, then I remembered your post. It was made by a lady whose last name was Machado who was living in San Diego back when it was a pioneer town. Wish I had taken a photo of the poster. It had more info. that I can't remember. I love your collection of quilt photos!.
Hello, I am a member of the Old Town San Diego Quilt Guild, We are currently working on a replica of this Quilt. I was showing my boyfriend pictures of the progress we made on the replica and was searching for a picture of the original when I came across your post. I noticed you did not know why it was called the Machado Quilt, It got it name because it was a Family Quilt made by Juana Machado, one of San Diego's most important residents!
